Apple’s latest iOS update iOS 6.1, 6.0.2 and 6.0.1 is allows the iPhone’s unlock pass code to be bypassed, giving unauthorized users access to the device’s Phone app, contacts, voice mail and photos.
Apple said it is hard at work on a fix. “Apple takes user security very seriously” spokeswoman Trudy Muller told AllThingsD. “We are aware of this issue, and will deliver a fix in a future software update.”
YouTube user “videosdebarraquito” has posted a video detailing how to bypass the iPhone’s unlock screen in iOS 6.1, 6.0.2 and 6.0.1. And how unauthorized access to a phone can be gained using a simple process that involves making and canceling an emergency call followed by a series of button presses. A similar problem was found in a previous version of the iOS a few years ago, but Apple was fixed it quickly with an update.
